New Dedicated Server Options

With the upcoming release of Bad Company 2 we have rolled out all new dedicated server options. The new options include access to have TCAdmin installed directly to your dedicated server and you can then manage everything via our full web control panel.

Read on!
--------------------------------------------------------------------

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike other ranked game titles, you will no longer be able to retain full remote desktop access and have BC2 installed - If you desire to run BC2 on your dedicated server you will need to choose option 2 OR 3.

Dedicated Server + TCAdmin Clan Version
QUOTE
Option #2 introduces the ability to have TCAdmin installed to your dedicated server allowing you to manage your game servers via our web control panel. If you choose to go with this option you will be able to run Bad Company 2 on your dedicated server, however you will no longer have Remote Desktop access.

There is no charge to have TCAdmin installed on the dedicated server when using this option, however there will be a limitation. The limitation is you will need to open a ticket with support each time you need a new game server installed, you may have as many as you like installed and running, but we will have to do the actual installs.

Once the game server is installed, you will be able to manage it via the web portal & FTP.

FTP, Special Notes:
QUOTE
You will only have FTP access to the games that allow FTP access to be available, as to say for games like BF2 Ranked, you won't have FTP access to the ranked server files. We also have file extension limitations in place. In order to protect the dedicated server itself we do not allow various file types to be uploaded/downloaded which include .dll's & .exe's. With that known, we do provide MOD install options for just about every MOD known to man via our web control panel, you can install them to the game server at the click of a button via our web panel.

If you find a MOD not available in the panel, you need only to pop in a support ticket and we will add it as long as it does not pose any security risks.

This option also means we (Hypernia) will manage the dedicated and are responsible for taking care of and keeping the OS updated and providing all support for the host machine (dedicated server).

Support for individual game servers installed on the dedicated server is considered best effort, we will do everything we can to get them running just right, however as there are an unlimited number of MODs we cannot guarantee all of the them will work perfectly.

Key Notes:
-TCAdmin Web Control Panel
-BC2 Ranked Available
-Unlimited Game Installs Upon Request

Dedicated Server + TCAdmin, Expanded Options
QUOTE
Option #3 is almost identical to option #2 with the exception that you will have the ability to install new game servers & reinstall game servers via the TCAdmin web control panel. With option #2, you will need to open a ticket to request a game install/reinstall, however with option #3 you will be able to do it yourself as your desire.

The downside to having these abilities is there will be an additional monthly fee of $15.95/USD.

You may always swap from Option #2 to Option #3 and back again should you like to try out both worlds. The only thing to keep in mind is, if you desire to go back to option #2 you will need to let us know before the next billing cycle.

Key Notes:
-TCAdmin Web Control Panel
-BC2 Ranked Available
-Unlimited Game Installs Upon Request
-Install New Game Server At Anytime
-Reinstall A Game Server At Anytime

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The options listed above that include TCAdmin are only offered as an integrated part of our master system. If you need a standalone TCAdmin install, you will need to purchase your own license directly from TCAdmin - www.TCAdmin.com

To help answer some additional questions I am posting a submission we got from a client with my answers
to them below it. We understand the limitations being imposed but if you want BC2 on your dedicated machines these are the only options available.

The questions.................

QUOTE
1. I have my own TS3 server installed on the box currently and am using my own license for it. You said I could keep this server, but if the OS is reinstalled how does that work? Will you save the files and then replace them once the server is back up? Should I save the files and give em to you, not sure how that works. What about beta updates, will you be updating the server when needed since I won't be able to?

2. When you prep the server is it possible to have you guys go into the control panel and tweak out the performance settings? Control Panel/System/Advanced tab/performance/settings. Under visual settings I change to adjust for best performance, and then under the advanced tab I set to best performance of programs. Under page file I set to system managed size. All this is custom but makes a difference in performance. Can this be done once the OS is reinstalled?

3. FTP. Currently we have a clan files FTP folder setup on the 2nd partition (D:) to take advantage of the extra disk space we are allotted. Since games obviously won't take up an entire 250gb HD is it possible to keep our clan FTP site away from the server files on the extra partition? Im assuming you'll set it up like it is now, C drive for games, and the extra space D drive. We'd like to utilize the D drive for our clan FTP.

4. Streaming options like PsB or PBBans. Will we have the option to stream our servers for extra cheat protection?

5. Remote admin. Saw somewhere a week or so ago that there will be a server console sorta like the bf2cc program released with the game, is that what we'll be using to admin our servers? There was actually a few screenshots of it, which I can't find right now (durrrr) and it looks rather easy to use.

6. Monitoring my server. Will there be anyway for me to monitor performance of my machine such as cpu usage, memory, page file, network, etc. so I can track how my server is running and determine how many slots I want to allocate to games. Want to ensure the box isn't overloaded and runs good.

#1 Once TS3 is installed you can upload and overwrite with your backed up DB file, sql lite only, the default one TS3 uses.
Updates will be available as they are released under the updates button. Currently Beta 18 is in our panel..

#2 We will be optimizing all servers to meet our tweaks we currently use in our shared division. This includes disabling unneeded services, and setting custom page files usage based on the servers RAM and HDD space. Normally a setting of 1.5 times the amount of Physical is set for Virtual which is more than enough for paging.

#3 We can setup the ftp on the additional drive yes. keep in mind FTP will be controled and restricted to some filetypes via the CP.
Restricted file types are pak,lua,exe,com,dll,bat,cmd,vbs,pif,scr,iso,mdf,nrg,par,pff,3di,reg.

There are no exceptions to these restrictions. Mods that fall under this category can be submitted for review and added to the mod install area of the panel once they are approved.

4# You will have file manager and FTP access to all game types, Ranked servers are locked to PB folder access only. For BC2 PB access is not allowed as of yet but we will have something in place for you to write your streaming info to the pbsv.cfg. We would need to setup the FTP account and it would only be to one folder which would include the entire partition space. You can however assign sub users to each game and FTP access to each game individually but not under FTP. FTP would be one stand alone account.

#5 That tool isn't out of Beta yet. I can tell you you can do anything with Rcon that you can do with that CC. We also have a custom tool we will release once the game is available, we have been waiting since they keep changing the backend and dont want the community flooded with useless tools.
We may or may not incorporate it but can't say until we verify the security of it.

#6 Yes if you choose option 3. This makes you owner of the box which allows you to do the installs yourself via the CP and gives you access to very comprehensive charts and reports such as cpu usage, port uitilization, HDD usage, network usage, page file usage etc..

If you choose option 2 all game install requests would need to come through us, option 3 you get to install from our list of games about 75 titles as of now.
